Abu Dhabi to host world’s first Euroleague Basketball SuperCup

Abu Dhabi is the host city of the world’s first Euroleague Basketball SuperCup tournament. The new competition will bring together four leading basketball clubs – Real Madrid, Olympiacos Piraeus, Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul and Dubai Basketball – for a two-day tournament at Etihad Arena on September 18 and 19, 2026. Brought together by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Euroleague Basketball, the Euroleague Basketball SuperCup showcases elite European club basketball and will follow a Final Four format, with two games each day. Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director-General for Tourism at the DCT Abu Dhabi, said, “The first edition of the Euroleague Basketball SuperCup is another milestone in Abu Dhabi’s long-term partnership with Euroleague Basketball and reflects our shared ambition to grow the game while creating world-class experiences for fans. The new cup builds on Abu Dhabi’s success of hosting major basketball showcases and tournaments over the past decade. “Bringing four elite clubs to Abu Dhabi to open the new season further strengthens the emirate’s position as a global destination for elite sporting events, while generating lasting value for our visitor economy, local businesses and communities,” Al Geziry added. “As we continue to expand our international sporting calendar, events such as the SuperCup play an important role in inspiring the next generation of players and bringing global audiences to Abu Dhabi.” A post shared by Etihad Arena (@etihadarena.ae) The games, hosted at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena, will begin on Friday, September 18. The first game, scheduled at 6pm will have Olympiacos Piraeus against Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul, while Dubai Basketball will face Real Madrid at 9pm.
