Air France resumes flights to Dubai after six months

The airline had suspended flights following changes to regional airspace, and says services remain subject to the latest security updates as it continues to monitor the situation across the Middle East. The airline has also restarted flights involving Riyadh, with services including SV 0596, SV 0552 and SV 0592 operating between Riyadh and Dubai. Air France has extended its suspension of flights to and from Beirut until September 1, inclusive. Affected customers are being contacted individually by the airline. Air France’s return comes as Dubai International Airport continues to see its international airline network recover. Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths confirmed that Air France had already returned to the Dubai market, adding that the airline’s passenger loads were “extremely strong”. According to Griffiths, the arrival of new-generation aircraft could help airlines open routes to smaller cities that may not have enough demand for larger aircraft. He highlighted the Airbus A321XLR, a long-range narrow-body aircraft, as one type that could expand Dubai’s future network. Looking further ahead, Griffiths said the development of Dubai World Central could eventually allow Dubai to connect directly with around 600 cities – roughly three times its current reach.
