Only weeks before Dubai’s first Etihad Rail station opens on September 30, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that a second station is planned for the city’s Meydan area. Speaking to The National, Abdul Muhsen Kalbat, chief executive of the Rail Agency and a member of the RTA board explained that the Etihad Rail has “ a future plan to open new stations – one additional station in Dubai”, later confirming that the Etihad Rail team have planned the Meydan station “to be integrated with our Gold Line station.” Unveiled in April 2026, the new Dubai Metro Gold line will extend over 42 kilometres and 18 stations, marking Dubai’s first fully underground metro line. The line will reach a depth of up to 40 metres underground and is expected to serve 1.5 million residents while supporting more than 55 major real estate developments. The map unveiled at the time detailed that the Gold Line route will extend from Jumeirah Golf Estates, where Dubai’s first Etihad Rail is found, to Al Ghubaiba, where it connects to the Green Line. Stations along the way include JVT and Business Bay, while also highlighting a station at Meydan to link up with Etihad Rail once more.
