Dubai runs on caffeine, literally. Almost every other person you come across will have a preferred method of getting their daily caffeine fix. Whether it be an earthy matcha, creamy Spanish latte or even a cult classic karak. But in recent news, another beverage hailing from Japan is having a major moment and it’s Hojicha. For those of you who are new to the concept – Hojicha is deemed as the younger, cooler cousin of matcha. Unlike your traditional earthy-flavoured matcha with the occasional flavour infusion, hojicha is made from roasted Japanese green tea, giving the beverage a warm, nutty flavour. And for those of you looking to cut back on the caffeine element, hojicha just might be the answer. And just like the matcha, this new bevvy comes in different sizes and forms – dessert included, of course. For those of you wanting to hop in on the trend or simply just test out a new place – here are 5 cafes in Dubai that are serving up some seriously delish hojicha drinks. A post shared by AVANTCHA Tea Middle East (@avantchatea_me) AVANTCHA Tea is a conceptual tea store selling over 150 types of premium-grade teas, including hojicha tea leaves. You’ll be in for a serious treat if you visit their Tea and Bar space in Al Quoz. Not to mention, they also sell the tea leaves on their official website along with sharing a few free recipes on how to make their signature drinks.
