This new bridge at One Central is set to open tomorrow

If your daily commute typically takes you around Dubai World Trade Centre and the One Central areas, take note: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to open a new bridge tomorrow, Friday August 14, to significantly improve traffic in the area. The 500-metre, two-lane bridge serving traffic twards the intersection of Al Mustaqbal Street and Za’abeel Palace Street will reduce travel time from 10 minutes to just two minutes during major events, and opens just before the city’s major events season returns. A post shared by DubaiMediaOffice (@dubaimediaoffice) The bridge is part of the wider Dhs633 million Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, which extends from its intersection with Za’abeel Palace Street to Financial Centre Street. The project has seen the creation of bridges and tunnels totalling 2,000 metres and also includes the expanded Al Mustaqbal Street, increased from three to four lanes in each direction. Per Mattar Al Tayer, the RTA’s Director General, the project forms part of an integrated scheme that also involves upgrading the World Trade Centre Roundabout, where works are progressing rapidly, and completion has exceeded 85%. And there’s more to come as improvements to this busy part of the city continue. By the end of August, a new bridge will open to serve traffic coming from Sheikh Rashid Road towards 2nd December Street. In October, RTA will open the project’s final bridge, which will serve traffic coming from Al Majlis Street towards 2nd December Street. In February 2027, RTA will open a further three tunnels extending 1,500 metres at the intersection of Al Mustaqbal Street and Trade Centre Street. Dubai continues to make enhancements across its road network to cope with the growing number of residents and visitors. Earlier this year a major bridge connecting the main city to Dubai Harbour opened, while the Oud Metha Development Project took a major step forward in July with the opening of a three-lane bridge serving traffic coming from Al Khail Road towards Al Asayel Street via Wasl Club Street.
